Employees in the machine shop have been busy adjusting the layout of the machine shop floor to make room for the highly anticipated installation of a brand new machine: a CNC 5 Axis Milling Machine! Prior to this addition, we had two 3 Axis Milling Machines and two 2 Axis Manual Millers. Previously, we were able to keep up with our customers demand but now we can exceed their expectations. This new machine allows for more capability in machining and fabrication which permits us to produce parts and fixtures with metals and plastics that we couldn’t before. The CNC 5 Axis can hold tighter tolerances than our previous equipment. In other words, the accuracy and quality of parts and fixtures produced by the CNC 5 Axis is greatly increased. Moreover, this machine also allows for faster turnover. This helps in maintaining our 2-3 week delivery even with complex assemblies and configurations. The addition of the CNC 5 Axis Milling Machine is a large improvement for our machining and fabrication department and we are eager to put it to use.
