It is with deep respect that we announce the passing of S. Brian Simons, founder of OEM Controls, Inc., a visionary leader and industry pioneer who profoundly impacted the world of rugged electronic controls. Brian passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Brian's entrepreneurial journey began in 1966, with the founding of OEM Controls in Shelton, Connecticut. Under his guidance, the company grew from a small operation into a recognized leader in electronic controls, with over 200 employees. His unwavering dedication to innovation and quality set a standard in the industry. Known for his mentorship, Brian inspired colleagues and employees alike, fostering a culture of integrity, resilience, and forward-thinking that continues to shape the company's values.
In recognition of his business accomplishments and contributions to innovation, Brian was inducted into the UConn School of Business Hall of Fame in 2013, a testament to his influential career and leadership.
Brian’s faith was central to his life, guiding his personal and professional actions. He and his late wife, Beth, supported the Church of the New Jerusalem and hosted community gatherings to encourage fellowship and personal growth. His life, marked by integrity and devotion, leaves a legacy of generosity and purpose.
Brian’s presence will be missed by his family, the OEM Controls team, and the wider community. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home in Trumbull, CT.
